Mal's 33rd birthday in Las Vegas
"Lilly, I don't know, I ain't really in too much of a mood to be goin' anywhere," Mal starts as the pair walk toward the door exiting Milliways Bar. "'Sides, where are you takin' me?"
"You'll see," Lilly responds. "Would I ever lead you astray?"
With Lilly's question, Mal leads the way through the door.

Arrival
Lilly steps through the door with Mal, beaming at the assembled folken.
"I got him! Captain Malcolm "Mu Ji" Beauregard Reynolds is here to party!"
Re: Arrival
She waves cheerfully to Mal.
Re: Arrival
Another part of him is just generally alert, seeing as this is a large and strange city. But mostly, he's simply prepared to enjoy himself.
Mal, as he enters, gets a casual, slightly smirky salute.

Red Square
"Every kind of decent vodka made anywhere is served here. How many do you think we can get Mal to try before he throws up?"
Re: Red Square
"...Any suggestions?"
Re: Red Square
"Something with Grey Goose in it. But don't get any ideas about juggling, okay? I want to stay here for a while."
Because it's his birthday, she is very carefully not mentioning outdrinking him to the point of grass skirts. Well. Not yet, anyway.
Re: Red Square
"Not bad at all," Mal adds. "What'd everyone else be havin'?"

Treasure Island gambling
"Okay guys, this place has everything; blackjack, poker, slots, roulette, and pirate shows. Whoever wins the most has to buy a round!"
Re: Treasure Island gambling
"I wonder if they play Long Pai..."
Re: Treasure Island gambling
"It's not yer world, I wot-- do'ee really want to be explaining the rules of yer games to them?"
Re: Treasure Island gambling
... is that a twang we're hearing coming from Mal's mouth?
"Pfft. Pro'lly never even heard o' Long Pai."
Mal scouts around for his next Big Idea.
Shadow strip club
There are rather a lot of naked girls, some dancing behind screens and some not. There's a sign to a woman's lounge, as well.
"All right, I brought you to the naked people, now you're on your own!"
Re: Shadow strip club
"Ain't nothin' like this on Shadow, I'm fair certain."
Re: Shadow strip club
"Birthdays parties, or at least ones I throw, are supposed to contain at least one thing like nothing else you've ever known."
Fountains at Bellagio
Lilly'd told everyone to meet up in front of the Bellagio fountains at the end of the night, but that covers a lot of ground. Everyone'll get together eventually, but in the meantine it's a beautiful night, and there's a show going on.
Re: Fountains at Bellagio
It's quiet now, though. Not in Vegas, of course, but in Lilly's head and that's enough for her. She leans against the railings in front of the Bellagio's artificial lake, staring into the water and trying not to think about another lake and a fin cutting smoothly through its waters.
Re: Fountains at Bellagio
Several minutes pass in which Lilly is alone by the fountain. Then he approaches, silent and inobtrusive.
Re: Fountains at Bellagio
"What up, sai?"

Still warm, too. Desert and asphalt and a hot day's sun mean it takes a while to cool down. It's pleasant.
Kaylee's watching the show, hands touching the railings, smile small and far away.

He's watching the show, too.
...And watching Kaylee watching the show, but that's almost the same thing, isn't it?

Her head turns; her smile brightens.
"Hey, you."

Re: Fountains at Bellagio
...Okay, maybe a little more than slightly. Enough so it's going to be an autopilot night once they're back on Serenity, at any rate.
He isn't watching the show, but he's listening to it: seated on the ground, back resting against the railing, knees up and head tilted back to touch the vertical supports. The breeze skidding across the fountain lake is just warm enough to be comfortable.
His eyes are closed. The view in his mind is a lot better than the one in the Vegas sky.
Re: Fountains at Bellagio
This possibly has something to do with the fact that Zoe is standing next to him, leaning her elbows against the railing.
